Hi there.

I am about to start a course in Motorsport Engineering at Huddersfield and I really want to take part in the event.

When looking at Hudderfield's Formula Students Website, it seems to me that the people actually taking part are all on courses such as Automotive Engineering and noticed none of the team did Motorsport Engineering. Why is no-one on the Motorsport course on the team is there a reason? Is it like this at all uni's?

RE: Participating

Hi Brett,

Universities that participate in Formula Student tend to approach it in very different ways - some build it into their curriculum, and others run it as an extra-curricular activity, which they either open out to students to do in their spare time, or invite selected students to participate.

I would suggest contacting Huddersfield direct and asking for their own answer to your question.  In that way, you should find out how they run their Formula Student programme, and where their automotive engineering programme sits alongside their motorsport programme - I'd certainly be very interested to hear their response!

Good luck!

RE: Participating

hi there.....i have started my course heere at huddersfield and so far, so good. i just found out that this year, the university is entering 2 teams instead of 1. this is brilliant news as it gives a lot more people a chance to take part in the event. another good thing is that the first year of the engineering is all linked very closely with mechanical, automotive and motorsports all attending the same lectures and apparently it spreads apart in second year but is still closely linked with eachother.

 cheers,

brett

RE: Participating

Hi there,

The normal age for entry to a degree programme at a UK university is 18.
